About the YCCC
Ottawa is surrounded by world-class canoeing destinations. Beautiful parks like Gatineau, Algonquin, La Verendrye, Frontenac, Mattawa and Bon Echo as well as the Ottawa, Madawaska, Petawawa, Rideau Rivers (and many others) are all within a short drive. We are in a canoeing paradise of rivers and lakes! Come and explore these and other wonderful wilderness areas with us!
The YCCC has over 300 members of all ages and skill levels collaboratively host hundreds of trips, training and social events during the paddling season and throughout the year! YCCC trips and training are for beginners through advanced paddlers interested in flatwater (lake) or whitewater (river) paddling. In 2010, we held 250 club events!
The Y Canoe Camping Club (YCCC) has a legacy of canoe tripping expertise! Friendship, volunteerism, safety, environmentally friendly camping and car pooling have been YCCC hallmarks since 1952.

R-You Prepared to Lead a Flatwater Canoe Trip in 2012 ? ........... (Updated on January 28th )
Since this call-letter was first published on January 18th I regret to inform that only 3 volunteers have stepped forward so far. While we owe a huge "thank-you" to these members, that level of response will not lead to a rich program for 2012, so please do step forward and indicate your interest and willingness in coordinating or leading a FW trip in 2012. YOU ARE NEEDED! We are now actively seeking enthusiastic club paddlers to step forward and volunteer to lead one or two club flatwater canoe trips this coming season. Should you feel that you need help getting started as a volunteer trip leader, we will help you get started with friendly and effective peer mentoring. You are not alone. Besides knowing your way around a boat and being able to cope "out there" all you really need is some enthusiasm. Prior experience is not required.

Barron Canyon canoe-camping (August 12-14, 2011)

It is close enough to home to get there in a half day's drive but far enough out of town to count as "wilderness". It is beautiful and inspiring, full of life and promise; and it's ours. My virtual introduction to the Barron Canyon reads like this:

Please CHECK your personal member coordinates ..
We experience, from time to time, rejected messages because a member's e-mail address is no longer valid. We don't want you to miss out on any important messages which are generated, particularly at this time of year as there is a lot going on to plan and organize winter social events, training opportunities, planning meetings etc., and not too far away, canoeing trips too!
