Don's Self-Rescue Clinic Scores Multiple Upsets - 2010

The self rescue clinic went on with a big splash..... actually lots of splashes..... Then they flipped the canoes upright and climbed back in. A great time was had by all. The water was warm and for once this summer it was warm and dry out.

Among the skills learned were how to flip over a capsized canoe and get most of the water out and then for the two people to climb back in unassisted. This is also a good skill for those who want to go for a swim in the middle of the lake....

Participants also learned how to get a flooded canoe back to shore by paddling it while still full of water..... it kind of looks like submarine racing......it is a lot faster than pushing a swamped canoe.

We also had a few kayak float rescues and even a "cowboy" reentry.

Everyone had a great time and we all learned valuable skills.
